The North Shore Art League Offers Creative Classes

If you would like to enhance your artistic skills, then head to the North Shore Art League

Since 1924, the league has enriched the community through art education and fascinating exhibitions.

The instructors inspire over 1,000 students every year and hold classes at the historic Winnetka Community House.

Adult classes include:

Etching Wednesday

Etching refers to a printmaking process that dates back centuries. It involves using acid to etch a design onto copper or zinc sheets. During class, students can turn their sketches or photographs into a unique work of art. Instructor Jessica Feith focuses on intaglio etching methods and offers individual guidance. She earned a master’s degree in fine art and studied at several schools, including the Universite of Aix-en-Provence in France.

On Thursdays, Watercolor welcomes all abilities. Students explore color, drawing skills, and subject matter. Instructor Peter Jablokow earned a degree in architecture and worked as an architect before becoming a full-time artist. His paintings have been featured in The Art of Watercolor, and he has received awards from the Illinois Watercolor Society.

The Path to Painting Success

The Path to Painting Success focuses on contemporary methods, as well as techniques from classical masterpieces. Students are encouraged to make creative decisions that will help define their unique painting style. This class is led by Michael Van Zeyl. He studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and his work is held in both private and public collections.

Art classes represent just one of the activities you can enjoy as a resident of Valley Lo Towers. If you are searching for a place to call home, then please contact us. We will gladly arrange a tour where you can see firsthand all our community has to offer.
